Half of Barack Obama's cabinet is stocked with folks with direct ties to the Democratic Leadership Council.
You remember those guys, the one's this website is dedicated to defeating. While the DLC dominates, progressives get one pick--Solis at Labor. And you thought HRC represented the DLC during the campaign.
Many of us supported Obama in the primaries because he explicitly said he did not join the DLC.
I guess he is rewarding them for all their hard work during his campaign. Progressives get the short end of the stick again.
OBAMA: CHANGE THE DLC CAN BELIEVE IN
In recent years, the Democratic Leadership Council struggled to attract a single presidential candidate to its national convention, while an annual gathering of liberal bloggers saw its cache rise.
Their fortunes have been reversed.
Al From, the DLC’s founder and chief executive officer of the DLC, identified ties with eight Cabinet members, including a former chairman (Vilsack), a former convention chairman (Ken Salazar at Interior) and convention keynote speakers (Richardson, incoming chief of staff Rahm Emanuel).
“Obama made a big promise that he was going to transcend the old politics and create a post-partisan politics,” From said. “The first test of that was to reach out and appoint people to the Cabinet that moved beyond party, and I think he has done that.”

Of course, a sure-fire way to get Obama to respect you is to challenge him and oppose him. Then he will try to reach across the aisle to make you happy--see Lieberman, Warren.
In the meantime, can I get my nearly $2000 back Mr. Obama?
