I'm tying to wrap my mind around the last few months, and it's tough.
In September, my firm of 50 or so attorneys laid off 5 attorneys and 7 staff. Of the attorneys, four corporate lawyers (the division I work in) were laid off and one litigation attorney. It was awful, but we thought that was the worst of it.
Over the next few months, a senior corporate attorney left (think rats leaving a sinking ship) and the foremost litigation partner left for some strange and not really very well explained reasons.
Then, last week, several litigation attorneys were laid off and yet another (super surprising) senior corporate attorney was laid off.
And the only thing the managing partner could say to me is "we're taking it month by month."
So, I'm going into this holiday break wondering if I'm going to have a job next month.
Any of you in the same boat, or worse? Just curious.
I know this is not very festive, but sometimes you need to feel you're not alone.
