It is amazing that Right Wing American Theologists (they will tell you they are Christian) are some of the most "persecuted" people on the planet.
Just by having alleged non-Christians breathing within their vicinity is persecution. Someone who swears across the hallway (but not at them and it could be just general frustration) is "persecution". Saying "Happy Holidays" is persecution. These poor Right Wing American Theologists (RWATs) are just under attack, that's right.
These RWATs have jobs and homes. They have not been murdered or maimed. They aren't put into prison or set aside as outcasts. They have FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND RELIGION and therefore, they get to talk, SHOUT ABOUT and commiserate about how persecuted they are. They rarely go to and stay at areas where this actually occurs to Christians. Yet, they are extremely persecuted.
I know most, if not all of us, have heard or read about the example I am bringing up. But, please bear with me, it is for a reason.
Here is a recent example of how "persecuted" these RWATs really are from Republican Kansas Senator, Mike Huckabee--atheists are attacking Christmas by having a sign up in Washington State in the state capitol allegedly "denigrating religion".

But the real issue is with equal access as promoted by a legal settlement in the USA as noted here by Ed Brayton:
"The governor has no choice, folks. There is a legal settlement, negotiated by the ADF, that requires that all individuals and groups have equal access. This was done specifically to get access for a nativity scene. This reminds me very much of the school in Virginia, where a Christian group sued the school to be allowed to send fliers home with students. Then the next year, when a humanist group used the same process to advertise a humanist summer camp, they were outraged. They've used equal access arguments to get their foot in the door, then they want to slam that door on others."

So, it is OK for the RWATs to put up stuff, but if anyone else does based on using US Law for exactly the same reason--that is wrong and persecution, ie--we can do it, but you can't.
Now, match this with Republican Senator Mike Huckabee's take that 'Civil Rights of gays are not being violated because their skulls aren't getting cracked.'
http://thinkprogress.org/...
Now, there have been gay people who have had their "skulls cracked" and who have been murdered. That's a fact.
Yet, to these RWATs, they are the ones being persecuted because they believe they are somehow righteous (somebody please help me here because it is borderline insanity). While at the same time they are persecuting other people in society.
And if I sound a little pissed off, I am--it is these people who have stolen my religion and I want it back!
Update: Thanks for those who have pointed out that Mike Huckabee was Governor from Arkansas, not Senator from Kansas. My mistake. However, I believe the point of the hypocrisy still stands.
