OpedNews:
After a successful rally and press conference denouncing Israel's attacks on the people of Gaza, protesters demanded a meeting with U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D MN) and called for an end to U.S. military aid to Israel. Over 40 protesters are now occupying a conference room in her office, and after an hour, she has agreed to meet with them.
On the evening of December 30, more than 40 protestors against Israel's current and ongoing military repression of the Palestinians urged Sen. Klobuchar to condemn Israel's offensive against the Gaza Strip. She refused. However, the MN Senator agreed to push for humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
The Star Tribune reported A smaller protest was held outside Sen. Norm Coleman's Twin Cities office, said Mary Beaudoin, director of Women Against Military Madness, who was there. And two or three protesters went to U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum's office and met with her district manager, McCollum spokeswoman Cleve Mesidor said.
The critics of Israel's policies toward the Palestinian people pressed for a meeting with Sen. Klobuchar, however no physical force was employed.
Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed Since December 27th by missiles launched from Apache helicopters and F-16 planes. Those weapons were purchased with military aid from The United States, which sends billions of dollars in aid to Israel every year.
Since December 28, 2008 people around the world have participated in a series of demonstrations protesting Israel's attacks on Gaza. These included protest marches in New York, San Francisco, Miami and Virginia, Washington, DC, LA, Atlanta, GA and Hawaii outside President-Elect Barack Obama's vacation residence.
