SallyCat kindly opened up her home again for the third consecutive year to celebrate Obama's recent win and the upcoming holiday season.
As usual everyone brought a ton of wonderful food and drink.
Below are my photos and many others were also taking photos. Please post them below in the comments. I have one photo that needs a caption so I will post in the thread where you can provide captions for it.

Now for my favorite pot luck entry:
This is Jotter's Grandmother's Boiled Custard with "flavoring."
To get you up to speed, it is like eggnog but far better IMO. It is custardy, velvety and wonderfully rich. I put a lot of "flavoring" in mine. Woo! Jotter made it the night before so it was beautifully fresh tasting.
UPDATE #1:
Jotter's recipe:
Here's the recipe. I will give the original, plus my notes. This is
from my paternal grandmother who lived in three centuries, 1899-2000.
This is prepared and served only during the winter holidays.
Boiled Custard
2 qt milk
1 1/2 cups sugar (jotter: whoa! we cut this in half at least)
1/8 teaspoon salt (jotter: a pinch)
8 whole eggs
Mix milk, sugar and salt in large sauce pan and cook over medium heat,
stirring constantly until mixture is almost ready to boil (jotter: as
best I can tell, this corresponds to about 160 F; use the "drop on
your forearm" method if no thermometer is available - if you say "ow!"
that's too hot).
Add eggs, which have been beaten until foamy throughout (jotter: we
tend to spoon some of the hot milk into the eggs and mix them, then
spoon the warmed up eggs back into the milk in order to avoid curdling
- this is critical! If you dump the eggs in .... scrambled eggs).
Continue stirring until the mixture coats a wooden spoon; about 10 minutes.
Serve Very Cold. (jotter: usually cool it down outside for a half
hour or so (assuming you are in a cold in winter environment), then
transfer to containers you can put in the refrigerator. You might want
to remove any "skin" that forms during the initial cooling. Another
option at this point is to add 1/2 t vanilla (the good strong stuff).
Add bourbon for "flavor."
2 quarts
"flavor." wink, wink, nudge, nudge
That is it from my camera.
Please post your photos below in the comments and tell us what your favorite pot luck item was. There was so much good food as usual at our events.
