Welcome to my fist posting on DailyKos. To paraphrase talk radio, I am a long-time lurker, first-time ranter, but something so got to me on this Memorial Day that I had to sitr down and put words to my anger.
I was driving to the grocery store here in Birmingham and crusing through the AM dial, like I am want to do...what can I say I am a sucker for punishment from the right-wing noise machine. Anyway, Hannity was on and it was a rebroadcast of his discussion with Bob Bechel and the idiot from Swift Boat. I listened to just 1 minute of it before I had to turn it off. Here's why...
Hannity to Bechel (paraphrasing): Why isn't there a breater backlash when Kerry says things like our troops are terrorists or Murtha said our troops murdered. Doesn't that show that there is a bias, instead of these people being torn to shreds like they shold be?
Bechel (again paraphrasing): Well....um....errrrr...duh....first off I don't condone, and you're painting with a broad brush, and we can agree that this war has been mismanaged....
That's when I turned it off and yelled at the radio, nearing bringing my 1-year-old son to tears.
I ask this one question to the Bechels of the world: Why won't you bitch-slap these idiots with the real simple answer to the simple question? All you need to do is say this:
"Sean, you pompous moron, I hold our military to a higher standard that you do. They are trained to be the very best and they are the very best, so when they do things that dimishing that reputation, that give the terrorists a chance to say "We told you so", we have everty right to hold them accountable. We demand that they be held accountable. What John Kerry said was true: Some troops did go into houses and terrorize innocent Iraqis. That doesn't make all of our troops terrorists. In fact, go open a dictionary to find out what terrorist means.
And, as John Murtha said, our troops did murder a whole family of innocent Iraqis. Again, that doesn't make all of our troops murderers, but those ones certainly are, and they should face the full brunt of military justice. Our American way of life, the one we know is far superior to that of the thugs and goons we fight, demands it. Why will you not denfend and support our way of life?
And when our military leaders try to sweep it under the rug, just like they did with the Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch fables they told, we are cheapened. We cannot claim the moral high ground we seek if we do this.
Sean, our system is far superior to anything on this planet. When you defend those that besmirch it, like this adminstration, and when you besmirch those that defend it, like Kerry and Murtha, you only aid the terrorists. So Sean, why do you hate America so much?
I can see why you got out of the construction industry Sean. That broad brush you use just isn't the right tool."
