I think that Americans have become complacent about the war in Iraq. It seems like they have become used to having the war around. Many people are against the war but do not know what they can do about it. Or don't want to put forth the effort to do anything about it.
This is why we need to demand an exit strategy. I am not suggesting the troops all leave in a day or two. But we need a plan. The American people need to know when the troops are coming home. We need to know we can start using our money on reconstructing the United States.
I am sure that many people at dKos have already written to their senators and congressman about the war in Iraq. My suggestion is two-fold:
- Write again. Or call. Demand an exit strategy.
- Get someone else to write. Someone who normally is not very active politcally but is against the war. Sit with that person at the computer. Show them how to get to the appropriate website to send an email. It will only take a few minutes.
My parents and sister are against the war. I am going to help all of them send an email to Norm Coleman and Mark Dayton demanding an exit strategy.
Please make a commitment to helping someone else take a moment to write about an exit strategy. We need the people who represent us to know that we want an end to this war.
