Bush UK Visit 'Exclusion Demands' Spark Protest
from Yahoo Reuters feed
British police refuse comment on media reports of demands by White House security staff for vast central London exclusion zones for Bush's trip, which starts next Wednesday and will be the first official visit to Britain by an American president since that of Ronald Reagan in 1982.
But they are well aware that at the height of the global war on terror, the prospect of having Bush, Prime Minister Tony Blair (news - web sites) and Queen Elizabeth in the same place at the same time presents a tempting target for would-be attackers.
I don't know. I'm starting to get the feeling that this is heading towards something really big, a showdown between an angry public and isolated politicians, a showdown that won't be controlled by polite policing or zone control.
It would be interesting to know the size of news resources being sent to this event from bureaus around the world. It deserves as full of coverage as it can get.
