Jon Stewart appeared on "Crossfire" on Oct 15th, and destroyed both Begala and Carlson. His timing was impeccable, and I still don't think that these guys know what hit them.
A transcript and video is archived on mediamatters.org.
Definitely worth 7 minutes of your time to watch the video, if you haven't seen it!
Referring to Crossfire, Stewart opens with
"...And I made a special effort to come on the show today, because I have privately, amongst my friends and also in occasional newspapers and television shows, mentioned this show as being bad. And I wanted to -- I felt that that wasn't fair and I should come here and tell you that I don't -- it's not so much that it's bad, as it's hurting America."
They try to recover, but never really do, and they just don't get it. The only defense they managed at the end was to indicate they didn't think Jon was being very funny, while all through the piece the audience is laughing.
While it's very amusing to see Stewart take these twits down, it's also disheartening that we have to rely on a fake newsman to generate some candor in the media. But I guess that was the whole point of his appearance...
