Hey all! It's Tuesday night and time for the DIDS, short for "Damn, I Did Something." It's a chance for all of us to offer up the cool and awesome things we have DONE in the past week.
School ended for us last week and I don't report back to work until August 18th. So, today I'd simply like to celebrate the beginning of summer by sharing the things I hope to do in the next few months.
Now, the plan here is to look forward, but let me start off with a few worthy DIDS that come with the beginning of summer vacation.
First of all, I totally cleaned out my classroom last week. In the fall, I'll start in my new position and a new teacher will be coming into my classroom. I dumped tons of useless stuff, cleared out my computer files and backed up only what is useful, AND threw away my substitute lesson plan folder!!!! For anyone who's taught school, you'll understand why that was such a pleasure. In my new position, if I need to miss a day, I can simply MISS it without having to do a mad lesson-plan scramble at some odd hour of the day.
Yesterday I began to address the "to do" list that accumulated as I was busy with exams, final grades, etc. So far I have crossed of "library books", "plan trip to Michigan", "clean out car", "pay bills" and "run to drycleaners." Boy, do I love crossing stuff off a list.
Now, to look forward. We've got lots of fun stuff planned for the summer, including...
...a trip to Michigan to see my parents, siblings, neices and nephews.
...lots of trips to the pool.
...an intensive four-week National Writing Project Institute (for me).
...Cool School Camp (for the oldest Pod).
...watching every last minute of So You Think You Can Dance?
...watching every single minute of the Democratic National Convention (well, at least the parts in prime time that don't conflict with So You Think You Can Dance?)
...various clean out/clean up/clear out projects here at the house.
...re-vamping the prayer, writing, and yoga ritutals that help me stay spiritually, intellectually, and physically fit.
I think I'll stop there. If the list gets tooooo long, it won't be fun anymore :)
So, that's my DIDS/will DIDS list for the day! Hoping you all are also off to a strong start for the summer months!
