I know that this may not be good form, but I am going to do it anyway.
Instead of cut and pasting whole diaries and cross posting diaries from blog friends at EENR, I will just give you a little taste. These are all well written, good diaries that need to be read.
First off, I cross posted a diary at MyDD for poligirl last night. If you missed it, check it out now.

Hey there all you folks out there on the EENR this Monday! This is the Critter Watch, and we do it because, of course, we all know that we have to keep a close eye on those Congress Critters of ours; you never know what they'll vote for sell auction off give away next...

This week the focus will be three pieces of legislation: the War Funding bill, the FISA bill, and the "Sense of the Congress" Iran resolution.

Letter To Obama Nation (Supporters & Progressives Wherever You Are)
by: Michael Conrad
... Our point is that a Democratic president needs to confront right - wing talking points head on, and make our case to the American people. They need to push as hard as they can to get the most progressive result and only make concessions when they have to. This is how the GOP rammed their f****d up agenda down our throat for so long. Not to mention that a progressive agenda would be popular, while 80% of Americans think a conservative agenda has put us on the wrong track.
We're not the ones that don't understand the system. People who don't want to spend political capital on dealing with it either don't understand or have forgotten the damage it does to average Americans.
Public opinion is on our side on virtually every major issue. If we elect a bold Democrat who doesn't cower at the thought of being called names by the GOP, we could make a lot of progress. Instead we have "general election mode" Obama, who seems hellbent on continuing our party's failed tradition of beginning every debate by ceding the central point. And all of this in an attempt to earn some much overrated credibility as a "bipartisan" leader.
In DC today, "bipartisanship" enjoys mythical status. The truth is that one side makes a political calculation and caves in (it's usually our side, even when we don't have to).
There is way too much of a difference between those who drive each party to think that anything short of a fight will settle things.
Progressives believe in military action only as an absolute last resort, diplomacy, human rights, solidarity, equality, taking care of the environment, and science.
Conservatives despise these things. They believe in war for profit or political gain, torture, greed, social Darwinism, ancient desert prejudices determining social policy, women "submitting" to men (ala Huckabee), trashing the environment, and ignoring science.
Someone please tell me, where did Paul Wellstone and Jesse Helms find common ground?
Partisanship is not the problem. The problem is that the American people don't have a government that works for them.

Executive Immunity and Congressional Subpoenas
by: edgery
Among the many events happening today in Washington DC is the hearing on whether the legislative branch of our government has any power over the executive branch. In the instant case, the issue is whether the White House must comply with subpoenas issued to White House staff (former counsel Harriet Miers and CoS Josh Bolten) to appear before the House Judiciary Committee to testify regarding the nine fired U.S. attorneys.
...
So, on top of getting the House to cave on immunity for the telecoms in the FISA bill and to protecting Americans from government invasion of privacy, the White House continues its unrelenting march to dismantle even the most basic checks and balances against executive power.
