At least
12 17 soldiers
were killed when two blackhawk copters crashed. Some reports say "coalition", others assume American. Regardless, this one may be a bona fide accident.
Or it could be the result of bone weary pilots exhausted from continuing combat operations. Truth is, war is dangerous business.
That's why it's generally something to be avoided unless you have a damn good reason.
Update: BBC reports the downings were under hostile fire.
Reuters quoted a local man, Mohammad Badran, who said he had seen the two helicopters collide after an explosion.
"I was watching TV when I heard a large explosion," he said.
"I looked outside the window and saw two helicopters. One was flying low and was on fire. The other was higher up. The first one climbed and hit the higher one.
"They crashed in separate areas."
