em*bat*tled (em bat,ld) adj.1. disposed or prepared for battle. 2. engaged in or beset by conflict or struggle.
Uses:
"The embattled Bush Presidency."
"An embattled White House."
ICD commented, on another message board, "Remember how the list of names involved in Watergate became an arcane litany? Chuck Colson, Liddy, John Dean...?"
I replied:
Yes.
That's a good line for an ad.
Next,
"Remember Iran/Contra? Remember when a President who thought himself above the law defied Congress? Remember when the next President, the father of the current President, pardoned everyone involved?
They're involved, again.
The administration of Mrs. Bush's husband has 'X' Iran/Contra figures. One of the first things Mr. Mrs. Bush did on taking office was seal the records.
Do you trust him to nominate an 'impartial' judge to the SCOTUS?"

Bonus! "Name the last GOP administration that wasn't involved in a scandal."
Bush II? Nope. Iran/Contra.
Reagan? Nope. Iran/Contra.
Ford? Nope. Installed as VP after the Spiro Agnew "nolo contendre" plea.
Nixon? Don't make me laugh.
Was it Eisenhower? This is an honest question. I don't know. But Ike was courted by both parties and chose the 'old' GOP. I don't know why. He's the guy who warned us about the military-industrial complex. Was it Ike?
(Alright, this diary sort of rambled, I know. But things are REALLY screwed up, these days. It's hard to keep track of it all. Maybe I'll edit it after I have anothe cup of coffee. It's early.)
