Apologies in advance for writing about something other than Obama, Biden, or trashing McCain. But one of the biggest themes, perhaps even the main theme of the Convention so far has been tying McSame/McBush to the current Prezdint.
Listening to NPR last night, I hear a shocking number. Today marks the last day our poor, overworked leader will spend on vacation at his ranch in Crawford, TX. Here is the kicker:
In his 7 1/2 years in office, President Bush has visited his vacation home a total of SEVENTY FIVE TIMES.
This figure is so out of line with what has happened in this country over the past 8 years, it boggles the mind.
Ask yourself, "How many times have I gone away on vacation in the last 8 years?"
Then, consider that it is hardly as if these trips were "weekend getaways". We must have taken an actual day off work (at LEAST a 3-day, non-holiday weekend) when answering the poll.
Does everyone in this little Librul community know that Bush set the record for the most time ever taken on vacation as president?
How many who answered "yes" know that he set the record in 2005?
How about that lovely 5 weeks of brush clearing in August of 2001, the days immediately preceding the 9/11 attacks when we could have used executive authority to perhaps alter the course or our nation and saved thousands of innocent lives?
And before anyone thinks, "Well, I would rather that Chimpy be nowhere near the red button at any time!" Keep in mind who is manning the guns while the kids are away.
Let us not miss this historic opportunity to spell out in short, simple effective way the disparity between the current leadership and regular Americans.
The theme this week has effectively tied McCain to Bush.
Let us be sure to include the fact that the Obama administration will actually work for the future of the country. Not just loaf around and collect paychecks while Darth Cheney plunders the nations' coffers.
