John Conyers, in a new post
here, discussed the current coverage about the Downing street memo.
However, never fear that this memo is going away, provided we don't let it. Up until now we had only conjecture that Bush lied about the war and his intentions. This memo provides undisputed proof of that fact.
Thus, whenever Bush decides to launch war against Iran or Syria, or whomever, this memo should be at the TOP of all Democratic talking points:
- We know he lied about the leadup to the Iraq war, so how can we trust he's telling the truth now?
- Bush hasn't come clean about the Downing Memo, so why should we believe he is being straight with the People about war against country X?"
- Bush has no more credibility, particularly among those who care about the truth and care that our sons and daughters are dying a war that we were lied into undertaking.
Thus, this memo WILL be back in the news, even if the current coverage doesn't snowball. Plans for a new war or any attack on another nation by the military will result in this memo being on the front page of any discussion, provided that Democrats USE IT.
