As I mentioned in my last diary entry, I am generally a hardline Israel supporter compared to other liberals. I generally pay close attention to how conflicts in the region are covered by the American Media. So far, I've been pretty satisfied. However, Cenk Uygar (whom I agree with about 97% of the time) disagrees with me on this particular issue. He does make some fair points and genuinely seems to be looking at both sides of the issue.
Here is the David Gregory interview of the Israeli foreign minister, Tzipi Livni. I'm not a huge fan of him, but I thought the questions he asked were tough yet fair.
In the next clip, Rachel Maddow does a great job providing context to the current conflict by reviewing the history of Israel from 1948 to the present. Later in the clip, she interviews Richard Engel, NBC foreign war correspondent.
In conclusion, I've been over all satisfied with the coverage and I agree with Marty Peretz of The New Republic.
Israel has come off better in the press than I had thought possible. And even better among the Arabs and Muslims in the world than I would have ever imagined. Yes, five hundred protestors in Paris; a thousand in London; a suicide bomber killed a score of his fellow Iraqi in a protest against the Israeli action against Hamas. Very clever, this.
