In my diary yesterday i described my fragile emotional state and how everything Obama and Inauguration related was making me extremely weepy. So tonight i thought i would spend the evening listening to some music and thinking on what is about to take place, and spend time thinking about all that we have been through, all that has preceded these last eight years.
So what is on Everyones playlist tonight? check out what im listening to after the Jump.
first up my obsession, Sufjan Stevens. For four years Sufjan has kept me sane. below are some of the choicest picks.
This is a video i made for MLK day using Sufjan's song "For the wives and widows of Ypsilanti ..."
this is Sufjans most commercial song fittingly from his album Illinois, and entitled Chicago.
Ok next up Anthony and The Johnsons, truly some of the most beautiful music in the world in my opinion. I describe him as sounding like Nina Simone minus prozac.
from his latest album this is "Another World"
This is his most famous song its very depressing but beautiful.
Ok next up ive been listening to this song by The Long Winters, it appeared on the album Moveon released before the 04 election and sums up some of the euphoria im feeling.
and finally for the moment the man who's words are simply oxygen. MORRISSEY!
here he is strutting like life depended on it, with his awesome and apt track "I will see you in far off places"
And just for fun watch this Moz song and see if you can spot the line that he is now going to have to change, let me know in the comments...
the song is entitled "America is not the world"
so thats some of what im listening to, this is the music that is helping me keep it together until Tuesday. Did you see the Change Train just roll into DC? yep i cried...i know ...its pathetic.
So what are you listening to tonight?
