The coming economic recovery (in either 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, or another year) will have been caused by Bush free market policies between 2001 and 2009. There was just a lag or 1-5 years (plus or minus 5 years). It takes time for Bush's policies to take effect. Once they do, we'll all be rich!
These economic policies reinforced Reagan's policies (which will also play a small part because they have a dual lag of both 10 years and 25 years, having caused the 90s boom and then also the economic recovery in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, or another year yet to be determined).
This will be an amazing triumph of Reagan and Bush's economic philosophy. Republicans' reign is always followed by several years of growth (often in unpredictable lag intervals which are not determined by leading GOP economists until the growth occurs). The media might give Obama credit for the recovery (if it comes), but it's really just the lag in Bush's ingenius economic policies (unless it doesn't come).
Trickle down lag
The trickle down theory is sound. Trickle down always takes a while, but it is always accelerated a couple of years after Democrats take office, which is not a coincidence - it's just part of the trickle down lag. Democrats get credit, but thet indeterminable lag is really to be credited. We should see the Bush supply-side trickle down effect really start to accelerate by 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, or whenever the economy turns around. It may actually take a generation to restore the economy, but once it is restored, Bush will be vindicated.
Bush's Iraq Success
Not only that, but the Bush policies in Iraq will also prove to be correct. Obama will probably get credit for a successful withdrawal from an unpopular war, but would he be able to carry out a popular but tragic withdrawal from a destroyed country if Bush had never invaded? No. Bush will set up Obama's successful withdrawal policy - that's Bush's genius. And American will be very popular again - all because Bush invaded Iraq and set up Obama to succeed.
Torturing people
Bush's decision to torture people presumed to be terrorists will also be vindicated. The thousands of terrorists who were tortured during ticking time bomb scenarios have yielded information that will keep American safe for many more years. If Obama keeps us safe, then it will be because of the information gathered while torturing terrorists during thousands of ticking time bomb scenarios, which occur every day. For some of the terrorists, the time-bomb was set to tick down to 2010 or 2011. Bush tortured them and got the information early, which will keep us safe during the Obama years.
Torturing random people
It has also helped that Bush tortured random Muslims who were accidentally detained for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. We do not yet know how this helped, but I assure you, once the lag takes place, we will know sooner or later, and Bush will be celebrated in the Muslim world.
FDR's Raw Deal
This recession is of course caused by the policies of FDR, whose New Deal made the Great Depression worse and continues to cause periodic recessions in the economy. The New Deal also caused gay marriage.
And of course, the War on Terror was caused by FDR when he destabilized the Middle East while "policing the world" and spending Americans' tax dollars chasing the Germans around the desert. These sort of "policing the world" policies often cause problems for America (we'll see the ill effects in Kosovo sooner or later. We're waiting for the lag). We are not the world's police - though occasionally Republican presidents have to clean up for past policing in places like Iraq - places that felt the brunt of FDR's wrong-headed New Deal policies.
Modern Republicans heart blacks
Finally, it's worth noting that Lincoln was a Republican, and while the election of Barack Obama is regretable (as his policies will have long as of yet determined negative lags), it is nice that a black guy was elected president finally. All of this was possible because of Lincoln freeing the slaves. Lincoln is of course a modern Republican (with the modern era being defined as "after the Rennaisance"). Lincoln's lag was about 150 years.
In conclusion
The lag between Bush's economic policies and economic growth may not be 150 years. The lag between his insightful torture of random people and the Victory in the War on Terror may not be 150 years. But it also might. We won't know until it comes.
