When the United States has a festering bigotry boil, the pus lancing usually starts on wing-nut radio. It did not take long for the un-evolved troglodytes of talk radio to show their hands. You knew it was coming and here it is.
Today, depending on where you live and where you tune your radio, you may have heard the following offensive ditty about President Obama
-- "MTV the Crib: Barack Obama" (.mp3 file)
Maybe you heard this?
-- President Obama is giving a tour of the Lincoln Bedroom where his "Homeys" are playing Malcom.XBox. (.MP3 file)
-- all compliments of American Comedy Network, a national radio content provider, broadcasting a parody that includes
I realize conservatives loath having a grown-up in the White House, particularly after reveling for eight years in Texas All-Star Republican incompetence.
. . . more after the jump. . .
So there you have it. Conservative America's pop-culture response to President Obama's first day on the job? They don't have any ideas. Conservatives are bereft of competence, and their leaders are either criminals, live in fear-bunkers or both. So should any of us be surprised to find them attempting to demean the President with offensive stereotypes and bigoted satire?
For conservatives, this is truly is the best (club)foot they have to put forward. Particularly when it comes to conservative media, what else do they have to offer for their country?
The corporation responsible for trafficking these ditties is "American Comedy Network." It is a content provider for radio stations. It provides celebrity fluff and plenty of lowest common denominator humor ranging from the prurient and puerile to bigoted parodies and bathroom humor.
And in case you are wondering, ACN is the same group of folks who treated you to the riff, "The Obamas are Movin' on Up", which aired immediately after the November election (and played to the tune of The Jeffersons).
I could go on, but the clips speak for themselves. The snide, demeaning dog-whistle bigotry and stereotyping is hardly subtle. This type of thing needs to be called out and exposed for what it is. Whether I'm standing in a grocery store check-out, walking down a street or in a casual conversation at the office cafeteria, I'm calling out this stuff or anything like it. There is no place for it. Period.
For anyone who demeans the President - or any of us - with dog-whistles and stereotypes, they will hear, feel and know return fire.
Make no mistake, it is always (for liberals anyway) open season on ideas. Bigotry, however, is off limits and will be fought at every turn. American Comedy Network has an inalienable right to spout their garbage, but I have an inalienable right and an inexhaustible will to get in the face of anyone who buys or solicits their services when they traffic in this sickness.
