I'm the elected leader of a small state organization trying to get off the ground. We are trying to build a community based on 7 major issues in our state and not all of the people in each of them get along but each are an aspect of making the state a better state to live in for all. The idea is to give a good format for these groups to discuss and network their members and post news and recruit and to cross-polinate the ideas so that they can grow supporters from the other groups on the site as well.
Sounds good huh?
If we didn't have people squabbling all over things, people making promises and not living up to them and people who took positions with what appears to be the idea of destroying everything before it gets off the ground...maybe it would be. It seems so many people want to be a star but not do any work or direct others without ever taking direction themselves.
Anyway this isn't a mope story but me venting a bit and hopefully encouraging some people to take action. Also don't get in a lockstep mentality that anyone who is a D is a friend or all R's are enemies. We are all people and assigning labels is bad enough but we all seem to assign values to those labels and then try to force the people we label to hold those values even if it contradicts what we know about them.
Partisan politics and divisive actions are the death of community and the death of community is the rise of tyranny. When we stop caring about each other and each other's liberties is when we can stand by and watch the liberties of others erode until it hits us and by then the other's are chained far to much to help and have been ignored for far too long to care.
Anyway - take care and to those of you with headaches like me; take some aspirin.
