So we want to completely hobble the Republican brand? Well, here's one obvious way to do it ... find a term to counter the wingnuts' "Massachusetts liberal" and "Bay Area liberal." And there's an obvious choice--"Texas Republican."
Where else have we seen Republicanism at its most obnoxious and corrupt? What state singlehandedly (in hindsight) delayed the collapse of the Republican brand by two years (if not for the DeLaymander, we would have actually gained seats in 2004)? What state gave us Bush, Cheney, DeLay, Cornyn and Abramoff?
Turnabout is fair play, I think. The Bay Area and Massachusetts have been used to define the image of our party for years--it's time to make the Texas brand of Republicanism define the GOP.
