I may be a communist, but last I heard, these were the roman column clad words of the detritus that promised us the world when we were wee lasses... That helped us believe, that with little soul searching and a supremely compromised conscience, we could be on the other ends of those equations - surety, fidelity, trust...
If we just betrayed everything in us that spoke to ethics and equality, we could actually dupe others into believing that the con is the real - that surety, fidelity & trust are all in a tryst while I slide my hand delicately into your pocket and remove everything you've ever worked for.
I can't play the con. I've never in good conscience been able to rob people. I've never in good conscience supported the murdering of those necessary to rob more people.
But I can't seem to make a living doing good either...
So am I reduced to cuddling with my kitties and languishing on the internet?
Can I be my own surety?
Can any of us?
I'd like to trust we'd at least abide by the xeno code... but I rarely see that charity extended.
I guess we need to go back to shouting... after all, when real organizing was done, 100 years ago, their voices and their lives were about all they had... save a concept not envisioned by surety, fidelity, or trust... rather justice - the balancing and equality assumed a priori by a clan of deists who might have influenced the beginning of this country somewhat.
