News comes today that one of the original (in recent history) group of Republican sleaze-balls is moving toward an appropriate end. Wes Cooley rode in on the Gingrich charge in 1994, spouting the same crap that was so popular at the time.
By re-election time in 1994 he had already disgraced himself to the point that retired (and former) congressman Bob Smith had to ride to the rescue to save the seat for the Repugs (OR-2). Greg Walden currently holds the seat, as the only Republican representing Oregon in either the House or the Senate.
Beside lying about his military record (a big boo-boo in conservative eastern Oregon) he also was fond of spinning tales about his prowess as a world champion motorcycle racer...and of course as an upholder of family values - even though it was determined that he and his current wife (at the time) had lied about the timing of their marriage in order to continue receiving payments for (???) (I can't recall anymore). A crook through and through.
And now comes word that he continued on his scoundrel pathway by trying to bilk investors in a stock scheme (how original)......
....investment scheme centered on the sale of shares in BidBay.com, a startup Internet auction firm, and several related shell companies. The indictment alleges that investors were lured by false statements, including a claim that BidBay was about to be acquired by eBay......
Oregonian
I guess John Kerry had it exactly right ("These guys are the most crooked, you know, lying group I've ever seen.....") March 2004. God I love that quote!
