This isn't really a diary, but I am really pissed.
I'm watching KO without KO (David Shuster is subbing).
They are playing audio clips of Cheney reprising his stump speech, essentially that Obama's policies will lead to another terrorist attack.
Lawrence O'Donnell's opening comment:
"It's beyond outrageous. We are left at this stage with no good choice about Vice President Cheney. He is either a pathological liar or he is completely unhinged".
Now, I remember when O'Donnell got "completely unhinged" on MSNBC in 2004 subbing for Chris Matthews, so I guess he knows whereof he speaks.
Anyway, Larry's got two thing wrong: it's FORMER Vice-President Cheney, and we do have a good choice - tell him to STFU !!
Forget the fact that out of sheer decorum and protocol, ex-VPs should not be opining on the two-week old Administration of a new President.
How about the glaring reality of Cheney's inconceivable reign of destruction over the last eight years? Why on earth does he think he has any legitimacy to render opinions, or why anyone wants to hear them?
Boston lawyer Joseph Welch, speaking to Senator Joseph McCarthy on June 9, 1954, said this:
"Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness.... You’ve done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?"
Fifty-plus years later, I think we should all keep this quote handy - looks like we're going to need it until Cheney finally dies of the massive coronary I'm praying is just around the corner (or, maybe he'll be on the receiving end of another hunting accident, this one involving a high-powered rifle).
You know, I would renounce my atheism if I could be convinced there's a special place in Hell for Dick.
