Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized earlier and had surgery for pancreatic cancer.
The prognosis for pancreatic cancer are generally bad on average. According to the National Cancer Institute, over 37,000 cases of pancreatic cancer were discovered and over 34,000 died in 2008.
My prayers go out to Justice Ginsburg, but now is a time to consider a possible appointment by President Obama.
First, VPOTUS Biden is a veteran of the Senate Judiciary committee. Biden has seen almost every current Justice, except for John Paul Stevens. I can not imagine a better aide to President Obama to help find a qualified replacement for Justice Ginsburg.
Second, Obama voted against Justice Alito and CJ Roberts. Now throwing the obvious Bush factor aside, Obama may be willing to find an influential liberal to help pull opinions more to the left and away from the far-right.
There are precious few details right now. I for one hope that Justice Ginsburg makes a whole recovery, considering that her cancer was caught early.
