The nonsense just keeps pouring out from Republicans by the minute. Deeper and deeper they sink into the abyss. Republicans truly are the gift that keeps giving, and I am forever grateful for their never-ending bounty.
Keep it up Republicans, you're digging your own graves. Not happy to be relegated to a regional party, they're gunning to become as extinct as the Whigs...
A small but growing sampling today of the stupidity that has come to define the GOP.
The GOP wingnuttery chimes in with their vast knowledge and wisdom (sic):
Mike Huckabee:
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee warned supporters Tuesday that the $828 billion stimulus package is “anti-religious.”
In an e-mail that was also posted on his blog ahead of the Senate’s passage, Huckabee wrote: “The dust is settling on the ‘bipartisan’ stimulus bill and one thing is clear: It is anti-religious.”
The former Republican presidential candidate pointed to a provision in both the House and Senate versions banning higher education funds in the bill from being used on a “school or department of divinity.”
“You would think the ACLU drafted this bill,” Huckabee said. “For all of the talk about bipartisanship, this Congress is blatantly liberal.”
“Emily’s List, radical environmental groups, etc. all have a seat at the decision making table in Washington these days,” he continued. “Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are in charge and they are working with an equally ‘progressive’ President Obama (remember his voting record is more liberal than Ted Kennedy!).”
Huckabee would rather spend money on war. That's very religious...killing people.
Senator Kit Bond:
Sen. Kit Bond (R-MO) just sent out a press release touting his vote against the stimulus bill. Its title is "Bond Opposes Democrats' Trillion-Dollar Baby."
So lets all digest this stupidity ... A $600 billion "baby", based on false pretenses and giveaway's to the banking industry by the Bush administration is okay. A Trillion-dollar "baby" that promises to create millions of jobs and resuscitate the failing economy is totally objectionable? Maybe Senator Bond could retire early!
Laura Ingraham vs. Senator Arlen Specter:
Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter got into an on-air quarrel with radio host Laura Ingraham Monday, who suggested the Republican supported a stimulus package because he was "wined and dined" by President Obama.
INGRAHAM: Is it nice to be wined and dined at the White House? And, you're treated pretty well when you're a Republican bucking other Republicans, right Senator?
SPECTER: Now let's get off it Laura. I'm not drinking any wine at the White House and I don't dine at the White House. If the president wants to talk to me -- I talk to him and I make my own independent judgment. Don't give me the wine and dine baloney, young lady.
I love it when Republicans attack Right-wing radio attack hacks.
Bill O'Reilly:
Bill O'Reilly called legendary White House reporter Helen Thomas the "wicked witch of the east" Monday night following President Obama's press conference.
"The White House press corps looked intimidated to me," O'Reilly said. "Except for that, what's her name? The old lady, Helen Thomas."
O'Reilly then squawked out a Helen Thomas impression.
"It's like the wicked witch of the east! If I were Obama I would've poured water on her, and she'd dissolve," he said.
Loofa, anyone? How about a felafel in your piehole, Bill?
Joe Scarborough:
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, a former Republican congressman from Florida, said he may run for office again, perhaps for the U.S. Senate in 2010, the Sarasota Herald Tribune reports.
Said Scarborough: "I haven't closed it off. I've been getting some calls from some fundraisers in Florida."
Just what the country needs, another bleeding heart Hollywood librul like Joe Scarborough nt
Former Senator Norm Coleman:
"God wants me to serve."
-- Norm Coleman (R), quoted by Smart Politics, on why he's going to win his court case over the recount in Minnesota's U.S. Senate race.
Normie..If God had wanted you to win, he would have given you more votes!
Governor Tim (Palin) Pawlenty:
...And when you're the commander in chief of the Minnesota National Guard, and you're going to deploy soldiers -- like we are tomorrow night at the St. Paul civic center, a thousand soldiers going off to Iran and a month from now another thousand going to the middle east to fight in the war -- it helps to have an understanding of those issues, the dynamics, the security issues.
Pawlenty apparently has a Palinesque belief that a governor's official role as head of the state National Guard has some importance in foreign policy. Maybe Sarah P can explain to Tim P the difference between Iran and Iraq. On second thought, maybe she can't!
Fred Barnes:
Democrats couldn't hide their self-consciousness about the excesses of their own bill. Supporters made few TV appearances to defend it and rarely talked about specific spending items. Obama sounded like Al Gore on global warming. The more the case for man-made warming falls apart, the more hysterical Gore gets about an imminent catastrophe. The more public support his bill loses, the more Obama embraces fear-mongering.
When did the case for man-made global warming fall apart, Fred?
