Although it may be too good to be true...
Gov. Phil Bredesen told top legislative leaders this morning that he doesn’t think President Obama will nominate him for the U.S. Health and Human Services secretary position, lawmakers said.
House Democratic Leader Gary Odom of Nashville confirmed that Gov. Bredesen, a Democrat, made the remarks during his weekly meeting with House and Senate leaders.
"It came up during breakfast," Rep. Odom said. "He basically said he’s expecting to remain governor of the state of Tennessee."
Let's hope this is true, because Bredesen would be a horrible choice. If he's out (as it seems so), then the front runner is more likely than not Sebelius. It would hurt because we need her for the Senate, but I still think she'd do a good job. I find it odd however that she'd take a cabinet job now if she refused them during the first round...because I honestly doubt Obama didn't offer her one before.
Judging from this I'd expect an announcement should be coming in the next few days.
