Mr. Santelli's rant has already been described in detail elsewhere here. I just had to turn off Hardball where Santelli was interviewed and showered with accolades by that ol' working class plagiarist from Boston, Mike Barnicle.
I had been avoiding the rant, but I saw it on Hardball in all it's glory. I couldn't help thinking of that well-worn movie, It's A Wonderful Life. You know, the one where the bad guy thinks it's horrible that all the "little people" got mortgages when they really didn't deserve houses. Did Santelli remind anyone of Mr. Potter?
Speaking of which, remember the $1 a year men during the Great Depression, men who gave up big salaries to do something for their country? Remember when this country glorified men like George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life," men who cared about those who had fallen on hard times?
Where has that country gone? If you want a really stark contrast, here you have it.
Here's Mr. Potter:
And here's Santelli:
You think Santelli would just want to crawl under a rug somewhere, wouldn't you? But no, the guy apparently sees himself as the next Lou Dobbs.
I know we're winning, I know. But sometimes this is just plain painful.
