By the time you finish reading this, you will know exactly who "these people" are, and why I am referring to them as such. Most of you will probably have a similar reaction as I did when I read these things, and for those of you who don’t, you are probably one of "them".
And for that, you truly do suck.

Hospitals that receive any federal funding, including Catholic hospitals that get Medicare or Medicaid, would be required under a bill that Rep. Steve Rothman will introduce today to give emergency contraceptives to rape survivors who request them.
The mandate is already law in New Jersey, and Catholic and non-Catholic hospitals in North Jersey do dispense the "morning-after pill" to prevent pregnancies caused by rape.
But a last-minute regulation enacted in December by the Bush administration allows hospital employees to refuse to follow such state laws if the employees believe the laws violate their conscience.
New Jersey and five other states are suing to overturn the regulation, and Rothman is co-sponsoring a bill to overturn the rule.
Remember this from December – while the economy was crumbling and now we know why Bush was too busy to do nothing about it? Now, again, a bill is being introduced that would mandate rape victims have access to emergency contraception only after being sexually assaulted or raped if they wanted it - and therefore not be forced by people that they likely never met and don’t know and certainly who don’t give a crap about the rape victim to get pregnant, let alone carry and give birth to a baby conceived from that rape.
"So sorry you were raped. But just in case there is a chance that you will get pregnant from the rape you just suffered and mental trauma you just endured, tough crap. Maybe you should have thought of that before you went out and got yourself raped.
In 2000, Alaska lawmakers learned that rural police agencies had been billing rape victims or their insurance companies $500 to $1,200 for the costs of the forensic medical examinations used to gather evidence. They quickly passed a law prohibiting the practice.
Rape isn’t just "a" crime. It is many crimes. If someone was shot or stabbed or attacked or assaulted, I’m pretty sure that the police would want to be able to collect any evidence – especially forensic evidence – to help solve a crime or catch the suspect. And I’m willing to bet that the victims of shootings or stabbings or other assaults wouldn’t have to be humiliated by having to pay to help find the suspect.
"Why should taxpayers, including the rape victim who also pays taxes, have to foot the bill for some cheap floozy who probably was asking for it anyway? After all, she should probably just lay back and enjoy it, and it isn’t like rape or sexual assault is a "real" crime anyway."
"He really did vote against a proposal that would have required insurance companies" to cover prescription contraception in the same way they pay for Viagra.
How it got to be that Viagra is covered (but not justified as to what medically necessary reason exists for Viagra to be covered) by medical insurance but birth control pills are not (especially since there is at least one very good medical reason for birth control pills to be prescribed. The God-given right for a man to be able to get it up and get off whenever he wants is something that can’t be jeopardized, but damn if a woman wants to enjoy sex (or just have sex) without risking getting pregnant and (by the way, having to incur a hell of a lot more medical costs) having a child.
A measure approved by the North Dakota House gives a fertilized human egg the legal rights of a human being, a step that would essentially ban abortion in the state.
The bill is a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision that extended abortion rights nationwide, supporters of the legislation said.
Is the logic here that a 12 or 14 or 17 year old who is raped by her stepfather or brother or neighbor should be charged with murder if she doesn’t want to have a baby that will change her life, serve as a constant reminder of a life changing and horrifying event and have her not graduate high school or ever go to college? Is it because that blob of cells is more important than a human?
"These people" are fucking nuts. And "these people" aren’t going away – in fact they operate just like Bush did in December with the last minute regulation when he should have been doing some "Presidenting". While nobody is paying attention. They won’t stop trying to tell other people what they should do and imposing themselves into other people’s bedrooms and hampering investigations into rape and other crimes and forcing women to radically change their lives through no act or desire of their own.
And while it is a damn good thing we don’t have them in charge anymore (for the most part), "these people" are still trying to impose their 16th century and sadistic views onto people they will never meet nor speak to.
They are despicable.
