A friend sent me this link.

It's more than worth the two minutes of your time it'll take to watch and listen.
It's five girls, ages six to eight, singing the National Anthem, a capella, before a Texas Tech basketball game.
They manage to take a song we've heard a jillion times before in various belted out if not butchered versions, and make it sound fresh and pleasant to listen to. They actually borrow from a lot of those cliche-laden versions, but lightly enough that it's nice.
For what it's worth, I've e-mailed the link to the White House. I suggested that in stead of having a military band play the Star Spangled Banner at the opening of some events (say, peace talks) they might invite these young ladies to sing it. The girls' version takes a lot of the edge off of something that's a war poem set to a German drinking tune.
If you like it, please e-mail it to President Obama. If enough people do that, maybe they'll seriously consider bringing those girls to open some events. I hope so.
