Transcript follows.
An ecomony in crisis.
A President determined to act.
But what did Republican leaders say to President Obama’s jobs and recovery plan?
[Mitch McConnell] "No."
What did they say to 3.5 million jobs?
[John Boehner] "No."
What did they say to tax cuts for 95% of working Americans?
[Eric Cantor] "No."
What did they say to rebuilding roads, bridges and schools?
[John Cornyn] "No." [McConnell] "No." [Boehner] "No."
So who are Republican leaders listening to?
[Rush Limbaugh] "I want him to fail."
Tell them America won’t take no for an answer anymore.
I especially like that they are targeting the tax cuts. That piece has been lost in the shuffle, particularly by the media. It's imperative that the message gets through that Obama is serious about restoring the status of the middle class. That is the means by which a host of other things can be done. Hopefully, this is a first salvo in that battle.
It's also cool that they continue the attack on Rush Limbaugh. We often forget that Rush gets paid to spout his opinions. Rush's current contract is worth $400 million through 2016. That's pricey; imagine what happens if he loses listeners. He's vulnerable because he's greedy. While he personally will only lose money on advertising (he receives a cut), any reduction in his 20 million listeners will hurt Clear Channel, forcing them to scrimp in other ways -- probably on other talent. Glenn Beck, for example, will have a contract renewal in 2012 with Clear Channel.
BTW, if you like their work, consider giving Americans United some coin.
