Google is one of my hero companies. Revolutionary is good. It's a corporation that I do not regard as "evil". I have read praises about their socially responsible corporate culture. They compete with other companies and with government for talented employees. Here's a piece about their recent seven figure executive bonuses:

Google, as far as I know, is not getting any government bail-outs. I am confident that they have government contracts, but that is different. They earned those contracts on merit. They can't be said to have had a great year. Per the article, their market capital decreased by over 50 billion dollars last year. Nevertheless they clearly feel it is necessary to provide sufficient compensation to retain their executives.
When I see the "bail-out" companies paying huge bonuses, I am still going to grind my teeth since I'm helping to pay for their fails. But I will keep in mind that they also value their exectutives, and also hope to retain them. They compete with non bail-out companies for "talent". I may regard their decisions as irrational, but that's up to management and shareholders to judge. I do not argue with legislation limiting compensation for bail-out executives. I understand though, that such rules disadvantge them in acquiring "talent". By the way, I am available!
