Yes, this diary continues with the visit to the Sonoran Desert Museum. Previous diaries about my visit to Phoenix and Tucson featured lots of birds, some plants, and some scenery - including the past 2 days about the "Raptor Free Flight" at the museum.
Before returning to birds (because I have more - ) I thought I'd feature a couple of mammals we saw at the museum.
The Pootie: the Desert Cat named Bob I posted to a Pooties diary a few days ago. No, I don't know that his (her?) name is actually Bob.
I do know that it's a Bobcat, though.
And the Puppy: Yesterday, a reader asked for prairie dogs. So, in that canine-rodenty kind of way, I'll include a few shots of the Prairie Dog.
Please join me over the jump.
The cats at the museum are actually in my least favorite environment - try as I might, I can NOT get a photo of them through the thin stainless steel wire that is used inside the cat building.
Fortunately, the Bobcat was sleeping high on a ledge, and could be seen from the view on the walk over the top of the cat building.
Yeah, all the animals in the cat building seemed to be sound asleep. We went from here to see the Raptor Free Flight, and then to see more birds - and eventually worked our way back, because I hoped to see some other mammals we'd missed in our rush to get to Free Flight.
Bob had woken up. And.... was looking at something.
Intently.
What could Bob be seeing?
Let's look... Hello!
While I was there, Bob gave up on the squirrel, and started rubbing his back and such - and showed us there were two Bobcats there. (Roberta?)
That was it for the Bobcats. Quite a bit later, we saw some Prairie Dogs. My dad and his wife laughed, because one of them seemed pretty interested in me (they thought... I just found the one eating, and stuck with it.)
And that was it for the Prairie Dogs.
Coming tomorrow, more birds.
