Good evening one and all! Jon Stewart has been on a tear lately - I wonder what he'll do tonight?!
Say "Hi" to TiaRachel, our faithful regular hostess.
And thank you all for joining us this evening and letting me host!
The Daily Show
Jon's guest is Paul Rudd, an actor in a seemingly endless string of movies for which I am not in the target demographic.
The current movie is I Love You, Man, since finding a Best Man is apparently such a hard problem. "bromance" is the word used at Comedy Central's site.
On his IMDB page, his main photo looks like a Paul Newman wannabe. However, teh google shows up with this spicier image.
The big question tonight, of course, is "What will be the latest volley against CNBC, etc.?"
The Colbert Report
Howard Fineman is Stephen's guest (hat tip to ek hornbeck) I have a feeling that this guest is a putz.
He hangs out at Newsweek and the NBC family of news stations.
He is on tonight because his book, The Thirteen American Arguments: Enduring Debates That Define and Inspire Our Country, is being released in paperback. These arguments apparently have no final answer. Hopefully Stephen with suss out an example or two.
I did like this quote:
I always wondered what a wolverine would sound like chewing through plywood. Now I know: like Sarah Palin "debating" Joe Biden.
An Alternate Activity
I love textiles. I participate in a variety of fiber crafts. So I am sharing quilt links tonight:
Quilt of the Month from the International Quilt Study Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Modern quilts:
The group of quilts assembled for the 1971 exhibition "Abstract Design in American Quilts" at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York is regarded by most quilt scholars as instrumental in igniting the quilt renaissance of the 20th and 21st centuries. The exhibition elevated quilts to the same level as "high" art by presenting them on the walls of a prestigious art museum and by comparing their graphic and painterly qualities to those found in modern abstract art.
Quilts, Inc., hosts international Quilt Festivals involved hundreds ?thousands? of quilters with quilt shows and classes that go on for days. Their main show is in Houston in the fall.
They have a book, but I do not see any of their fabulous quilt collection online. That is sad.
The American Quilter Society is one of the main groups of quilters and sponsors the big show in Paducah, Kentucky.
There are some quilt links available here.
