Well you people have sort of created a monster. I am going to post another one of these things. I just took a walk around the condo complex and got some new shots of some of our resident (mostly alien invasive) birdies. I will throw in some other recent shots for some variety. In fact, let's star with some reptiles...
Brown Anole,(Anolis sagrei) like all lizards in Hawaii this is an alien species. There are a bunch of them living at the base of my stairs. When I first moved here several years ago there were several little poison dart frogs that were spectacular creatures; iridescent metallic green and black. Alas, they were replaced by these anoles a few years ago.
As long as we are on lizards I shot this beautiful little gold-dust day gecko (Phelsuma laticauda) the other day out on my lanai. I hope there are more out there.
Now our first featherbutt. This is a Japanese White-Eye or Mejiro, Zosterops japonicus. This is a tiny and fast moving bird.
House Finch, Carpodacus mexicanus. I just started noticing these little birds recently outside my condo.

Now for my neighborhood Koleas or Pacific Golden Plovers, Pluvialis fulva.
First the female who lives on the lawn across the street. The other day she found a great big juicy slug. Yum!
Today I also got some photos of the male that lives down on the corner. He is just starting to get his "tuxedo" or breeding plumage. I am going to get an eye on him and get some more photos as it fills in.
Just FYI here is a shot I took of this same bird last year in full breeding plumage. The males get this right before they take off for their non-stop 48 hour flight to the arctic.

Common Waxbill, Estrilda astrild
Thanks for visiting, and please be good humans.
