The Party of "No" plans to ride a wave of negativity right back into Congress. Democrats, in a grand display of derriere covering, are paving the way.
The furor over the AIG bonuses, justified or not, has provided the GOP with another relatively minor issue with big emotional return. Playing on economic fear and populist indignation, the public has been whipped into a lynch mob frenzy. Forget health care, alternative energy, education... We're out for corporate blood.
Without so much as a solution to their name, the GOP will skillfully channel the tide of indignation to defeat the very issues that brought the nation together.
Roosevelt was right. Fear (and indignation) have the power to change the course of a nation.
