Yesterday Michelle Obama broke ground, along with a bunch of school kids, on the new White House vegetable garden. They report they will be planting various vegetables, berry bushes, and have bee hives for their own honey.
It's one more sign that this administration has its priorities straight and is ready to serve as role model for the entire country.
Gardens, community gardens, health and wellness. Just one solid example of why the Obamas and the Democrats are leading this country in the right direction.
Community gardens, farmers' markets, and the organic and local trends in growing food are steps people across the country are making from the ground up toward healthy living and sustainable communities and sustainable economies.
Cheers to the Obamas and to all folks across this land recognizing the importance of the local, organic gardening movement.
In addition, we must continue to work on sustaining our wild foods. Wild fish stocks and healthy watersheds. Healthy habitat. Edible and medicinal wild plants.
Spring is a great time to renew our commitment to the land.
