This is a Democratic blog, a partisan blog. One that recognizes that Democrats run from left to right on the ideological spectrum, and yet we're all still in this fight together. We happily embrace centrists like NDN's Simon Rosenberg and Howard Dean, conservatives like Martin Frost and Brad Carson, and liberals like John Kerry and Barack Obama. Liberal? Yeah, we're around here and we're proud. But it's not a liberal blog.
It's a Democratic blog with one goal in mind: electoral victory.
And since we haven't gotten any of that from the current crew, we're one more thing: a reform blog. The battle for the party is not an ideological battle. It's one between establishment and anti-establishment factions. And as I've said a million times, the status quo is untenable

More below the fold!
Far be it from me to quote Kos to the community as though I am some authority, but we need to remember this.
Now, I say it is time to put the donation meter back up on the front page for Scott Murphy!
"I'm pretty proud of my work as an individual who concentrated on the economy for years, and now with this downturn I can hit the ground running," Tedisco said recently during an interview at Snyder's Restaurant in town.
votesmart.org
I paraphrased my version of this here.
Wow! What a great thing there is a downturn, which my ideology didn't help cause at all. Now I can hit the ground running on the ideas I have been peddling for my whole career! Yay! I've been concentrating on the economy for all these years just for this moment to step out of the rubble of my old ideas and hit the ground running with the smae old ideas.
Strength. Economy. Where have I heard this before?
Yup, that's right, this quote sounds exactly like the quote made recently in the failed Presidential Election bid of the Republican Nominee, Sen. John McCain
Democrat Scott Murphy faces Republican James Tedisco for the House seat vacated by current Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand. With your help we can help elect Scott Murphy to Congress. This will be a failure not only for the GOP agenda if Scott Murphy wins, but RNC Chairman Micheal Steele personally, or it will be a total failure for us if the GOP picks up this seat. That is why we should act now and help elect Scott Murphy.
As a life long New Yorker who grew up Upstate, I think there is a lot Albany should not be proud of over the years, and Jim Tedisco's record is part of the problem. At some point I even hoped Albany would become ashamed of itself. Apparently, with guys like James Tedisco walking the halls of Albany, there is a reason the shame of Albany is the strong and silent type.
After looking at the voting record in Albany of Congressional House Candidate Jim Tedisco(R), two things come up as a theme. Jim Tedisco likes to say No to bills that don't kiss his ring, and Jim Tedisco loves taxes, just as long as him and his friends don't have to pay them.
I like to judge a man on his record, especially if that man touts his record as something he can stand on.

When push comes to shove, all James Tedisco wants to do is push less tax aid over to New York's working class, but he doesn't mind shoving all the tax burdens into their laps.
I would rather shove James Tedisco out the door.

According to State Assembly Reports Upstate NY would rank 51st nationwide in job growth from 1995-2004 if ranked as it's own state.
Lagging job growth put New York in a category below traditional "Rust Belt" states, including Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Minnesota, all of which grew jobs four times faster than Upstate from 1990-2000

And that was back in the 90's to 2004, back in the good old days before Worldwide Great Depressions.
Looks like Jim Tedisco is still living in the past.
Though career Albany politician Jim Tedisco talks tough about fiscal responsibility and lowering taxes, his record tells an entirely different story.
While in Albany, Tedisco has actually voted to raise taxes 221 times.
It seems Tedisco never saw a tax increase he didn't like - Tedisco supported tax increases on sales, property, and wireless communications across the state.

The lesson is that our nation does not need any more of the same old ideas, and, for over 20 years, that is all Assemblyman Jim Tedisco has had to offer.
If you have not done so yet, please phonebank at DCCC.org for Scott Murphy in his campaign to keep NY-20 blue!
Or, if you are able to, make a donation for Scott Murphy's campaign. You can do so and learn more about our candidate at livableworld.org
Murphy is traveling the state meeting voters, but this sprawling district is too large for him to visit every town in the short amount of time before the election. Purchasing TV and radio ads is vital for him to reach all the voters.
Fortunately, broadcast time in upstate New York is not too expensive. Your contribution today can help Murphy reach out to voters in these crucial last weeks of the campaign.

We need every voice we can get on Health Care Reform, EFCA and other key issues. We need every Democratic vote we can get to help us do that.
Kos is right, the status quo is untenable. If Albany Bureaucrat James Tedisco wins this election the GOP and their Right Wing Talking Point Machine will use the loss to beat our agenda over the head. We can make sure that does not happen, but we have to act now! Let's stick our collective pitchforks where it counts by helping to elect Democrat Scott Murphy to Congress!
Some of you may know there is a project to determine the Presidential vote breakdown by congressional district instead of county.
The vote totals have been calculated for NY-20:
Gillibrand 177,667 Obama 167,827 (9,840)
Treadwell 109,644 McCain 157,879 48,235
Total 287,311 325,706 38,395
Votes
The numbers here show that there were 38K more votes in the presidential race than the congressional race.
Gillibrand (an incumbent) beat Sandy Treadwell 68K votes, or a 68/32 margin.
Obama squeaked by McCain by 10K votes, splitting this district 50/49.
Obama ran 10K votes behind Gillibrand even though there were 38K fewer votes for the congressional race.
McCain received 48K more votes than Treadwell, which is 10K more than the difference between the congressional and presidential votes.
Now that I've thrown out (or thrown up) all these numbers, what does it mean? It appears as though if the same number of Democrats voted either at the congressional OR presidential election show up on March 31st, Murphy is going to win.
Now there could be a Republican backlash, but I think the country folk up here aren't stupid & will vote for the majority party.
Still no excuse to (not) do what we can for Scott Murphy until Election day.

At least once this week, please commit some time to help out Scott Murphy. We missed out on opportunities at the end of last election cycle to help out candidates like Jim Martin in Georgia's Senate race and Paul Carmouche in the LA house race. Let's not allow that to happen again.
and yes Seneca Doane, this one is for you too.
Apologies to all, especially MetaJesus. Good thing he is all forgiving and stuff.
Prove me wrong children. Prove me wrong.
UPDATE! My first Rec List! Thanks guys, I am sorry for what I did, but rest assured that it hurt me a lot more than it hurt you. I know making the rec list by trickery and subterfuge is not entirely honest, so I am going to go phone bank for Scott Murphy later on today to make up for it.
If you want to see the diary before this total update just scroll down the thread and find my comment with the previous POS diary.
Now, onto our next order of business.
Make donations and/or sign up for phone banking for Scott Murphy for congress, or I will shoot this bunny rabbit!
UPDATE X2 I just cross posted this diary over at thealbanyproject.com, so hopefully this will get some more attention.
If we pull together and give it our all we can help Scott Murphy win this race!
If you do make a donation, or if you can phone bank for Scott Murphy, please tell us how it went, or how much you could donate. Leave your comments below, and hang in there, this is going to be a tough fight!
