NY-20: Obama/Murphy/Pooties VS Rush/Steele/Tedisco
From the AP:
"I'm writing to you now because you have the opportunity to make a big impact on my efforts to bring about a lasting economic recovery," Obama said in an e-mail in which he announced his support for Democrat Scott Murphy and tied himself — and the popularity of his economic policies — to the outcome of the March 31 election.

The outcome of the race had already been associated as an early referend(um) on the nascent Obama Administration, but this shows Obama is ready to back up what is being said in the press. Of course, the President wouldn't be doing this if he didn't think Murphy had a shot, and most of the credit for that belongs to Scott Murphy for running an honest and credible campaign against an ethically challenged Albany politician of the worst order.

UPDATED!: If you are kind enough to help support Scott Murphy for Congress (NY-20), please leave a brief description of how you will help out in your comments below.
Thanks!
President Obama just went all in for Scott Murphy. Let's go all in for both of them.
First of all, may I ask you, my fellow Kossacks, to please Rec all of the quality diaries on this site related to the NY-20 Special Election, as this race will have huge political rewards for winners, and some ugly comeuppance for the losers. This is very important guys. If you disagree, please check your FAQ's
According to the latest Siena College poll on the race, Obama has a 65 percent approval rating in the district, with 27 percent rating him unfavorably and 9 percent undecided. Gillibrand had a 78 percent approval rating.
That poll showed Tedisco leading Murphy by 4 percentage points, with a margin of error of 3.7 percentage points.
The district has more than 196,000 registered Republicans compared to about 125,000 registered Democrats. There are more than 118,000 voters who aren't affiliated with either party.

It looks to me like as though there are a ton of potentially undecided voters in this district, voters that we can get to vote for Scott Murphy. If they vote for Scott Murphy our party wins, if not, we lose. It is as simple as that. Now, what are you going to do? We can phone bank, we can make donations, and we can support diaries that encourage us to do so. But, for now, back to the story.
Yesterday two diaries covering NY-20 went up on the Rec List, my own POS/edited diary, and an excellent one by Seneca Doane titled NY-20 GOP donor is famous DKos-exposed photo faker! Here is a great quote from the diary.
Go read devtob's diary about how wingnuts from San Diego County -- please, leave us Orange Countians out of this one! -- are spending heavily for scurrilous radio ads against Scott Murphy in next week's dead-heat NY-20 special election.
The co-chair of the organization? Howard Kaloogian. Yes, our Howard Kaloogian, the one that DKos helped to destroy when he was a candidate in 2006 the 2006 special election to replace Duke Cunningham in CA-50.
~snip~
Those were good times, people. We can have good times like that again. Kaloogian, the liar about Iraq, is now attacking Scott Murphy for not being pro-war the way Kaloogian likes. Let's hang Howard Kaloogian around Jimmy Disco's neck. Let's ask Jimmy Disco if he approves of Kaloogian's lies to extend a war. Jimmy Disco will happily see Kaloogian buy him a seat in Congress, but he doesn't want a distraction like this right now. So let's make sure that that's exactly what he gets.

FP Author Arjun Jaikumar wrote another superb article on this race titled NY-20: Tedisco "Not A Millionaire", Except That He Is, and here is a quote from the article.
"I've lived, I've worked, I've represented upstate New York as a leader for many years," Tedisco said. "I'm not a millionaire, and I'm never gonna be a millionaire. When I get to the floor of Washington, I'll probably be the poorest person there in Congress."
But according to personal financial disclosure forms (PDF), Tedisco isn't exactly a working-class stiff. The sum of the minimum value of the assets Tedisco reported -- including two addresses in Saratoga Springs -- totals at least $1,426,000. The maximum value is over $3 million.
Tedisco's liabilities, including mortgages on those addresses, range between $400,000 and $850,000.
That sure looks an awful lot like Tedisco's net worth is probably over $1 million.
Now we need to do more.
For the next few days, please rec any quality diaries you see on the NY-20 Special House Election.
Also, if you can, donate to Scott Murphy for Congress

Help a Kossack out. Help President Obama out. Help him help all of us, by further his mandate to fix this huge disaster created by the GOP.
Think of it like your first donation to re-elect Obama in 2012.
There, now doesn't that make it feel easier.
Otherwise, Tedisco gets to do this for the GOP
