There are reports of widespread looting and gunfire in the cities of Bismarck and Fargo, North Dakota, as the area struggles with unprecedented floodwaters and remains cut off from access.
"I’ve got a god damn disaster here" the mayor pleaded in a news conference yesterday. "We need some god damn Federal assistance here right now or this whole god damn place is going to blow."
Widespread looting was reported as residents made off with food, water, and large flat-screen television sets.
There are also reports that at least half of the Bismarck police force has abandoned its duty and fled the city.
"This is total chaos." Said a resident. "We are all left on our own to die and people are running wild."
Or not.
Actually, the people of North Dakota are pulling together and voluntarily helping each other through the unprecedented crisis.
Just goes to show, not all disasters are really disasters. Just depends on the people involved. Let's all thank and give credit to the people of North Dakota. You've shown us all what the spirit and practice of community means.
