Hello and welcome to another session of Labor Diary Rescue. As you guys know, the LDR is done every Monday and Thursday night. In order for a diary to get rescued, you must have a pro-union diary with "union" in the tag that has less than 100 comments, is factual, and hasn’t been on the recommended list or any other diary rescue. Rescued diaries are below the fold.
Of course anyone who pays attention to union issues has been paying attention to Obama and what he’s been saying about The Big 3. I have to admit I’m frustrated that Obama is calling for "restructuring" which Michigan knows is a code word for "downsizing". I’m also angry that Obama is calling for more concessions from the UAW. How much more blood do we want to squeeze out of that rock? The UAW has consistently made concessions year after year, and they worked to make them during the bailout. American workers shouldn’t be suffering for working an honest job.
Anyway, here’s tonight’s diaries:
Gjohnsit has an excellent diary on the Wall Street strike of 1948 in The Battle for the Citadel of Capitalism.
Jimredped has the first of what’s sure to be many rescued rants against the anti-UAW crowd in Dance with them that brung ya.
Vetforobama gives his take on the auto situation in Bold action by the Obama Administration...;
Discocrisco writes on Jim Cramer’s idiotic anti-union stance.
Tech ed writes about the labor problems in the IT industry in H-1B, L-1, J-1, TN, E-3 -- The Numbers Tell The Tale.
Thanks for reading. Treat the comments as an open thread.
