OK, this is just a quickie, but it's hilarious.
Check out the fundraising email that Pete Hoekstra (R, MI-02) (he's the schmuck who wrote a panicky op-ed with Rick "manondog" Santorum--remember him?--claiming WMDs really were found, no really, in 2006) just sent out for his bid for Governor of Michigan. For the most part it's your standard "can you please send $10, $25, $50..." money grab email.
However, one part is worth a chuckle or two...
Dear Friends,
On Monday we kicked off the "Michigan's Future Begins With Us" campaign and people are already asking, "What can we do to help?" We love that question!
Today, we need your help. You can help us start this campaign out strong by donating $10, $25, $50, $100 or even $250 today.
With your help today, we will work to bring jobs and opportunity to every corner of Michigan.
We must get our economy moving again. Unfortunately, our current leadership is using taxpayer dollars to pick and fund winners and losers, while also overseeing a job destroying tax system.
Together, we can change this failed leadership!
FUNDRAISE:
Every campaign needs to fund its victory plan, and Pete knows winning is a team effort. This race is not about him; it's about a state that desperately needs strong new leadership in Lansing and hope for a turnaround.
Here's how you can get involved:
Dollars & Donors:
We need assistance increasing our net fundraising. Encourage your friends, family and colleagues to write checks or go online to contribute. As you know, the biggest reason people haven't given to the campaign yet is because they haven't been asked. Helping us ask has a high impact for the campaign.
Send out a direct "ask" letter. Send a personal letter to your network of friends, family, vendors and associates. We always encourage people to use their holiday card list and rolodex. The Romney Finance Team will help with:
--Drafting language for the letter
--Printing letters for signing
--Providing reply cards and envelopes
--Compiling the mailing (stuffing envelopes)
--Send direct "ask" e-mail. The same thing as the suggestion above but just by email...often times --easier and faster.

Don't get me wrong, it's my understanding that George Romney Sr. was actually a pretty decent Governor for Michigan, and I graduated from high school with George Jr. (Mitt Romney's nephew), but I'd still be pretty surprised if Mitt Romney's ghost has posessed Pete Hoekstra, considering that Mitt is still, you know, alive and all...
