- If we're to entrust our children and their future to Palin and her abstinence-only views about sex education, what are we to make of her child's unplanned, out-of-wedlock pregnancy? Are these the result of her ideas about sex education?
- How can Sarah Palin mock spending on "fruit fly research" when she has a family member with autism, touts her concern about autism - and fruit flies are the animals used to advance autism research? Doesn't this indicate a basic lack of understanding of science on her part, as well as political opportunism?
Note how both of these issues relate to stated positions and key policy questions, as well as Sarah Palin's personal behavior.
Note how gloating over an incident where her daughter's child's father's mother was busted for pushing pills in a parking lot is not about any of those things.
When Democrats get distracted from the issues and focus on the tabloids, we LOSE, because while everyone has faults, we are right on the issues, while the other side has the ability and means to generate stuff and nonsense about people's sisters and uncles and step-cousins-once-removed NON-STOP. Our philosophy, one of live-and-let-live, and one of mature, issue-oriented, detail-oriented political debate, is one reason why we're not as good at Rush at putting knives in people.
It's also the reason we won in 2008.
