Guboner Mark Sanford's hate for the state's public education system is real, people. Let me explain...
I got up this morning with full intention to lay off the Sanford issue of him not applying for the $700 million for public schools in our state... Until I read the Sun News. The story on the front page just says it all:
Gov. Mark Sanford secured South Carolina's $2.8 billion share of federal aid, but warned teachers and school districts not to plan on $700 million for classrooms, colleges and public safety.
In a letter to the White House budget office, Sanford reiterated that he will not apply for the $700 million portion of funds. He is asking state lawmakers to use an equivalent amount to pay off debt.
"They're not going to get that money," Sanford said Friday of school districts. Sanford was the nation's final governor to request the money.
Now, let me ask the teachers of South Carolina this simple question: Do you finally see what voting for such idiots does to your job security? I recently had a exchange with a anonymous teacher on the Georgetown Times web site, with the teacher spouting GOPher campaign smack about not wanting "big government" and comments to that effect. If the teacher didn't want big government, why does the teacher not realize big government was there before Obama took office? How about the debt Guboner (Prez) Bush left? They all seem to forget that, don't they.
Read it and weep, GOPher supporters. You people voted yourselves a libertarian for governor. And now, you get what you deserve - we all do.
GOPher Sanford could have been stopped. There's enough evidence out there to show he's incompetent for the job. But, hey... This is South Carolina, known for people voting for Strom Thurmond even after he's been dead for how long?
Sanford is anti-public education, people. Plain and simple. He has been for a long time. Realizing he'll never get his school choice bill he's been begging for and knowing U.S. Term Limits and real estate tycoon Howard Rich has paid loads of money for something, he finally sees his opportunity to choke of public education in this state - yes, even you GOPher teachers out there, he wants you gone, too.
Don't believe me? Think I am hot air? Let me prove it to you...
From the State Ethics Commission database, here are the contributions (since December) from Rich's address, 73 Spring Street, New York, NY for Governor Mark Sanford:
12/1/05 - Joseph R. Rich - $3,500
12/1/05 - Daniel Rich - $3,500
1/9/06 - 123 Lasalle Inc. - $3,500
2/16/06 - 4220 Broadway Inc. - $3,500
2/16/06 - 4220 Broadway LLC - $3,500
3/27/06 - 123 Lasalle Associates - $3,500
Governor Sanford also got $3500 from "Spinksville, LLC" in Baltimore, MD (3/28/06). Spinksville’s principle address isn’t actually in Maryland, though. It’s 73 Spring Street, New York, NY, and Rich is the principle agent.
Another $3500 came from "405 49 Associates," which offers a Houston, TX listing, but has an "alternate" address of 73 Spring Street, New York, NY.
It's all the same person, playing politics with our people and sticking in your face when the good people of South say enough is enough. He's also a libertarian. His network in South Carolina is fully documented - here and here. It's up to you to read it for yourself.
I am really fed up with this state's lack of support for public education - the very same public education that has produced some fine people to on to do extraordinary things in this country.
What is it going to take to see the manipulation of the system so these GOPher fat cats can get what they want? Does it have to be screamed at them? I am tempted.
But not so much. I feel even that will not wake up certain people. We still have the Confederate flag on our statehouse grounds. It seems we'll never escape our past and finally move on.
It's time to take the gloves off, people. Now is the time to stand up and take this state from these GOPher lunatics and turn it towards a progressive ideology. Instead of going backwards in time with such stupid issues like school vouchers, we ought to fix the problems in the public school system and stabilize it - not run from it like Sanford and friends are doing.
Enough of the niceness... What has that gotten you? Further down the pipe, from what I see. The people not known for speaking out need to start right this very moment. Why bite your tongues and live in fear? That's what these GOPhers want. They thrive on it. If the very same agencies and systems we stand for stay under attack without no resistance, you can kiss them goodbye.
Stop giving in to them. Seriously.
The year 2010 is going to be a big year - either we win and take this state forward or we lose and we watch how the state stays in the laughing stock category because of the people running the show.
I am not laughing. I am also tired of seeing us being laughed at. Are you?
