CNN is reporting that President Obama is making a surprise visit to Iraq. He is there to give moral support and thanks to the troops. No word on how long he'll be there.
I wish he didn't have to sneak into town like Bush used to but I guess there's really no choice. Hopefully it won't be too many years before he can be greeted fully out in the open.
A little more substance:
He's taking a motorcade to Camp Victory.
He will be handing out 10 Medals of Valor.
He will be meeting with General Odierno.
He will also meet with Prime Minister Maliki.
2nd Update - the meeting with the Maliki might not come off. Apparently there's a bad windstorm which is restricting travel in the area so they can't helicopter to the Green Zone but they will talk by phone.
Last Update - PM al-Maliki has driven to the base and he and President Obama are meeting now.
