If you watched the Today Show like I did this morning, you saw Matt Lauer interview Laura Ingraham from Fox News. WTF? Matt practically fawned over Laura and her criticism of Obama's actions and Europe's embrace of him and Michelle. Follow me below the fold...
I have problems with this whole interview on several levels:
- Disclaimer: I'm no fan of Lauer. I think he's a homophobic poser based on some of his past interactions with gay guests and his homophobic banter with Al Roker. I also think he's childish when it comes to interviewing face-to-face female guests with any amount of cleavage. Matt, I could care less that you have successfully NOT looked at Miss Guest's boobs. No reason to mention it at all.
- Why does the Today Show need to have a Fox news analyst as a guest? Didn't they get the memo? Haven't they watched Fox? Do they really think they're going to get a rational, reasonable critique of the POTUS and FLOTUS' trip to Europe? Puh-leeze. Give me a frakkin' break. Surely there's someone in your own newsroom who could provide a conservative critique. Why pretend that you have to schlep all the way to Fox to find someone?
- "Right." ???? Matt, what the frak? Are you going to actually agree with Ms. Ingraham? Are you so enamored of her good looks and crappy reporting that you can't challenge her insidiously shallow commentary? Do you miss the good ol' days of Dubya and Laura that much? Oh, I forgot...you're not a journalist.
Blech. Matt, you're a tool. Thank you Meredith Viera and Ann Curry for your pained expressions after suffering through that tortuous five minutes, and thank you Ann, especially, for your fist-on-hip declaration at the end of your story about Ted Kennedy throwing the first pitch the Red Sox game that Kennedy showed "true American grit."
I think I'll have to boycott the next installment of "Where in the World Is Matt-the-Tool Lauer." As much as I like seeing interesting places on tv, I'll stick to cable.
Here's the tool in action:
