On the ride home I tune in to the local Progressive AM station and listen to Mario Solis-Marich. Mario is fun to listen to and has Video Clips of the Day as a feature. Today he brought us the new ad from the National Organization for Marriage along with the out-takes. If you haven't heard of them yet, they are the group that is working against the Gay Marriage initiative. I listened to the ad and was thoroughly disgusted. This was before I found out that the supposed 'real people' were just actors. You can listen to the whole thing here.
What infuriated me the most was the woman who whined about how her son's school was going to teach him that being gay was ok. Give me a freakin' break.
Her rights are being infringed upon?
How is this any different infringement than on the rights of those who are forced to learn about creationism? How is this any different than when they force a child to say the pledge of allegiance with the phrase, "Under God"? The ad talks about how Gay Marriage threatens their personal freedoms. Personal freedom has been under threat for years by various groups that think they know best, who want to push their own agenda, who want to be the ones in power. Not once has my personal freedom been threatened by Gay Marriage. Not once!
I call my sister up every time another wall falls down that blocks Gay Marriage. She looks at her husband and he looks at her and then they say in unison,
"Yep, still married."
