I saw this entry on the interwebs, where some guy named Art Brodsky said some "reporter" got jacked by members of the Federal Government.
All good intentioned?
I don't care. The story about the guy with a headphone who suddenly got controversial when he wanted to interview a wounded vet is just a trigger. Or just a container for a trigger, which is the word "reporter".
I hadn't heard that for a while. "Journalist" comes up again and again, these days. But WTF is a "reporter"?
It seems to me we need to go beyond what we've been thinking. See, with Blogging and things like DKOS, there's quite a bit going on these days, with the whole 'informing the masses' crap. I've been reading again and again (and if I were a "reporter" maybe I'd have links there to several stories, so the words "again" and "again" were underlined in cool blue hyperlinks) about the newspapers are whining because some horrible monster called the "Free Fucking Market, Assholes" decided to choke them to death on feces for its own amusement, but yet there are still things called "reporters", just because they've got a microphone?
It occurred to me that we all started calling all of them "journalists" just about the time this country began to really seriously SUCK.
SO I was wondering: Reporter? WTF? Not even "journalists" are anything but 'assholes with outlets'. Reporters are any idiot guy with a pen!
Let alone a recorder, headset (earphones), and a microphone, like the guy in the link.
Isn't it time we admit that 'reporter' means any decent citizen willing to blow the whistle (and not a crackpot) and "journalist" means someone who thinks too highly of themselves?
I'm just asking.
