After yesterday's "revelations" from President Obama's Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel & after my 2nd letter to the White House in the last few weeks, for all the good it'll do, I guess I need to bring this "special comment" out again.
I am very sad today. When then - Senator Obama said during the POTUS campaign that no one was above the law, I guess an "*" should've been next to that statement. No one might be above the law, but some are more above then others, apparently. President Obama, if your chief of staff went "off the rails" yesterday on ABC, you damn well better say so & soonest. Otherwise, I can't claim to be the least bit surprised, but I am very VERY disappointed.
Let's bring back this "special comment," too - once again, for all the good it'll do.
And, there is a sad "this day in history" that we must remember not just for those who lost their lives & were injured & personally affected by this horrible event, but as a reminder to be aware & compassionate to the suffering of those around us that we meet every day. Easier said than done, I know. 10 years ago today, two students went on a shooting rampage at Columbine High School in Littleton, CO, killing 12 students and one teacher before taking their own lives.
Let's Countdown.
Thanks to David Shuster for "pinch hitting" for Keith tonight! Although, if the weather in New York City was anything like Indianapolis today, Keith didn’t spend his day at the ballpark because it was raining and raining and raining and RAINING nearly all day. Come back soonest, Keith!
#5 "Tortured Decision" AKA "Forward and Out" - OK folks, I guess it’s official. Not only is the Obama administration not going to prosecute those who actually tortured, which I didn’t care for but could grudgingly accept if it meant going after the "higher ups, but the "higher ups" aren’t going to be investigated or prosecuted, either – not for those who wrote the memos, not for those who crafted the policy behind the memos, NADA! Hopefully, at least as far as the U.N. & possibly other avenues are concerned, this shtick still ain’t over yet. But, with the US having veto power on the Security Council, what can the U.N. ACTUALLY do? Of course the CIA treated President Obama "...like a rock star..." because they knew no one was going to hang (figuratively, of course) for what had been done. *&^%$#@! However, at least according to Manfred Nowak, the U.N. Special Rapporteur (what the heck is that?!) on Torture, it is ILLEGAL for this administration to NOT go after the previous administration for what they did. Something tells me this whole mess is going to get more ugly before it improves, and it already ain’t exactly smelling like a bed of roses. KSM may have been waterboarded 183 times. Oh for f*ck’s sake, NOW Diane Feinstein is saying something?! NOW, she’s telling a President to "...hold off..." on decisions??!! Where the f*ck was her "hold off" between 2000 & 2008???!!! I swear...y’all understand why I was in such a $hitacular mood today?! OK, I’m changing the oath that the President, VP, Congress critters, etc. take. Instead of vowing to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution," we need to replace "Constitution" with "my sorry political hide if it is politically expedient to treat the Constitution like toilet paper in the White House potty." What say you all? Yes, President Obama, I am pleased & thankful you made the decision to release the "torture memos," but more action is necessary. President Obama, you may have put an end to the "enhanced interrogation techniques" described in the memos, but you aren’t always going to be in office. What if, and gawd help us all in THIS scenario, we get a POTUS worse than GWB & ilk more ilky than GWB’s ilk? You giving the legal "free ride" to those responsible for these horrible actions will give the green light to do it all again. Wow, President Obama actually used the words "...rule of law..." today at the CIA. Son of a *&^%$#@! This whole "calming the CIA memo" is pi$$ing me off! I’ve said it before; I’ll say it again. If the CIA is more concerned with CYA than with protecting the country, then the f*ckin’ CIA’s house needs to be cleaned up! David Shuster made an excellent point. If waterboarding gave us so much damn good intelligence, 1 time should be enough...yes? Rep. Jan Schakowsky is having none of this "I was just obeying orders" stuff from the CIA. And, here she is [insert standing ovation here]! I just take issue with a couple things Rep. Schakowsky said. First, if Congress had been doing their over – sight function during the GWB administration, none of this or very little of it would’ve happened. Second, she said she understood the "politics" behind this non – investigation non – prosecution action in light of everything else on the Obama administrations plate. BULL$HIT ON "POLITICS"! Our country CAN do all of these actions at once; for the sake of our national soul, our country MUST do all of these actions at once. Democrats need to begin acting like they’re the majority in Congress & not be so "touchy feely" about bipartisanship with the Party of No.
#4 " ‘This Conversation Doesn’t Exist’" AKA "Gonzo Justice" AKA "Justice on the Line" - Ugh...don’t say "Gonzo"! Say Fredo – PLEASE?! There’s only 1 Gonzo, and he would’ve been absolutely horrified at what our nation became between 2000 & 2008. Rep. Jane Harman’s proverbial goose may have been cooked by those pesky wiretaps she helped see through. Ain’t irony a hoot? A LEGAL wiretap exposed her? OOPS! And, of course, Fredo said "thanks but no thanks" to any investigations into Rep. Harman. OK, color me not surprised to add this little gem to Fredo’s long list of f*ck ups. Why hasn’t he been disbarred?!
** Oh, thank goodness for "Oddball". Can we go back to adolescent juvenile humor about tea bags? PLEASE?! No? Poop... ;D The Greeks are shooting off stuff to "save energy." HA! Oh, that poor Lamborghini in Washington! That’s just painful. **
#3 "Faux Outrage" AKA "GOP Handiwork" AKA "Diplobamacy" - "The right" is having a cow because President Obama shook Hugo Chavez’s hand. Why? Did they see Chavez use the potty & not wash his hands afterward or something? President Obama was "laughing & joking around" with Chavez? He frakkin’ smiled at him! Great photo evidence, Mr. Shuster! The GOP is just so damned rich. President Obama can’t talk with "our enemies"; only President Reagan could talk with "our enemies." A$$holes!
#2 "Ratcheting Up the Rhetoric" AKA "Ad Hominen Ad Nauseam" AKA "Everlasting GOP Stoppers" - Saul Anuzis has called President Obama’s economic plans "fascism." Yea, good luck with that since "socialism" worked so damn well for ya’! The GOP is also ragging President Obama for attempting to cut his Cabinet’s budget. Lordy, they REALLY need to make up their feeble little minds about which talking point on which to settle; they run the risk of looking like MORANS! ;D I can imagine what comes after "fascism"; I can visualize the "n" word. I really can; I put NOTHING past these "people."
#1 "Republican Family Values" AKA "Gay (Positioning), for Higher" AKA "Anti – Equality Inanity" - Rudy Giuliani AKA "America’s Mayor" AKA Roger Ailes’ BFF is going to be the savior of "traditional" marriage in New York state. Um...dude, how has traditional marriage worked out for you? You’re about as qualified to lecture on that subject as I am about patience being a virtue or DICK on being warm & fuzzy or GWB’s application to MENSA. Check, please?! 53% of New Yorkers are all over gay marriage – well, some figuratively, of course. ;D OMG... did Miss California spend a little too much time with THIS chick?!
Oh geez, David Shuster asked if Rudy "...could have it both ways..." regarding same sex marriage?! THANK YOU; THERE’S MY JUVENILE ADOLESCENT HUMOR! I haven’t laughed like that all day!
