Welcome to the RedState Wreck List. This diary will summarize the contents of the RedState recommended diaries list. This, like the one on Daily Kos, is comprised of user-written commentary selected by recommenders.
Due to the tiny size of RedState, the recommended list often takes a long time to change. It also doesn't take much in the way of recommendations to get on it. Typically, there are only about a dozen recommenders and a dozen comments on a RedState recommended diary.
This is based on the RedState Recommended List as of early Saturday morning.
2 ½ Years to Live
Note: the RedState URL returns 404, so I'm posting the link to the author's blog
I have my eye on a new set of doctors, similar to the one back in the 80's. Unfortunately I am going to need to raise a lot of money. so I can get out from under my current doctor's bills, and I won't be able to begin my new treatments until Jan 2011 because I have to clean out all the trash in my system and then bring all the new doctors in.
I am asking you to help me. I know all of you here at RedState are great people, and I promise this money will go to good use.
It seems like an ironic posting on RedState. According to them, no good white person should be buried under medical bills. That's for lazy people who don't work hard enough.
But it is ironic. The cancer is liberals, get it? Click on "trash" and it takes you to Daily Kos. Clever.
I can no longer remain silent...
First I’ve got to get hold of my temper, for yes, I am an old, white guy who is ANGRY...angry at what’s happening to my country, and feeling powerless and humiliated that I can’t change things. I am looking for a NEW Contract with America and a new voice/personality who has the charisma, character, courage and leadership qualities to combat what at the moment seems to be an overwhelming tide of social progressivism. And while I know that in time, political correctness and secular liberalism will implode on itself, I shudder as I watch what damage it has already caused, and will cause, in this curent administrative embodiment.
I you are of like mind, I’d welcome hearing from you.
Is is just me or does this read like a very deeply coded ad for a bi-curious encounter?
Yesterday, on the "RedState Morning Briefing" I covered a post by Erick Erickson where he call for the teabaggers to start engaging in true grass-roots activism. I noted that the right wing is lazy and driven by authority. Here's a perfect example. Basically, this guy wants to meet other horny angry men and sit around complaining about the liberals and trying to figure out who is macho enough to lead them to the promised land.
Good luck with that guys... and play safe.
Obama’s Chilling Reflection on the Holocaust
Margaret Sanger represents one clear and undeniable connection between the eugenics and racism which spanned the globe during the Twenties and gave rise to the Holocaust in Europe as well as the Holocaust we now have in America, primarily among minoritiesand the poor. Wouldn’t Margaret be proud of what Planned Parenthood has been able to accomplish in her name?
Diaries comparing abortion to the Holocaust (what a huge insult) seem to be a staple of the RedState Rec. List. This is pretty much a standard diatribe about what a terrible eugenicist Margaret Sanger was, and how all people who support abortion must be racists. As it typical, it manages to get through the early history of Planned Parenthood without mentioned that Bush patriarch and Nazi supporter, Prescott Bush was their first head of fundraising. Why do they leave that out, I wonder.
This is a popular topic, having gotten an unusually large number of comments (86 so far).
If You Attended a Tea Party and You Think Your [sic] Not Now Being Watched, Think Again
Enough with the background, now let’s connect the dots. On April 18th, two days after the tea party protests, I was checking traffic on my website. I always do reverse IP traces on major hits to see where they are originating so I can evaluate the effectiveness of my marketing strategy. As I checked one particular large hit, I was stunned to see the following on my screen,
Hostname: 216.81.80.134
ISP: Department of Homeland Security
Organization: Department of Homeland Security
Welcome to the wonderful world of protesting, idiot. Remember when we complained about surveillance of peaceful protesters and you called us un-American? How's that working for you now, assholes?
ObamaSpeak - sounds like chalk on a chalkboard to me
That's nails on a chalkboard, wanker. Anyway, this article takes an Obama quote and then provides a hi-lar-ee-us "translation" of it. Here's a sample:
On the release of top-secret memos
I am absolutely convinced it was the right thing to do — not because there might not have been information that was yielded by these various detainees who were subjected to this treatment, but because we could have gotten this information in other ways, in ways that were consistent with our values, in ways that were consistent with who we are.
Translation
I don’t care if these memos say that they used a gentler means to yield information from these detainees before they employed harsher techniques. I know who these sadistic right-wing extremists are, and they really used the harsher techniques ASAP because they get a sexual gratification from putting pain on people. Yeah, I told Janet and DHS to keep a watchful eye on these guys because I am not seeing the love and loyalty to ME from them.
Translation
"Waaaah. Waaaaaaaaah. Waaaah. I want my permanent Republican majority back! I want a president with the IQ of a turnip! Waaaah! Waaah! I'm a major douche bag. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
At Tara in this fateful hour...building a foundation for a party unity and a truce in our divisions over social issues
... if our process of representative democracy and limited government is allowed to be swallowed up by dictatorship, one-party rule, an all-powerful government, and the abrogation of the rights guaranteed by our Constitution against government control, then it doesn’t matter which side "wins" or "loses" on the specific issue, everyone has lost. Once arbitrary government rules, nothing is safe for long; everything depends on the whims of those who hold power for the moment.
And with the Democratic hegemony of our Federal government - right now Congress and the Presidency, with the judiciary within their grasp - our 200+-year system of governance faces its gravest threat.
All I can say to this drivel is: where the fuck was this bipartisan sensibility when The Decider™ was in power?
Gandhi’s take on Specter and the American Left
Arlen Specter and the left may not realize it, but they received a prescient and firm condemnation from Mohandas (Mahatma) Gandhi many years ago. Since Christianity is the only religion not really included in multicultural curriculum and discussions these days, I was forced to look for something that liberals could reference and understand as I pointed out their moral deficiencies. Hinduism came to mind, and it turns out that Gandhi has a lot to say about the condition of the left these days.
It turns out that Gandhi did his own take on the Seven Deadly Sins. They follow, with commentary that the left will hopefully find helpful.
Oh, for fuck's sake, the right wing in this country has spent at least a century destroying (American) Christianity and now that they've nearly succeeded, they go after Hinduism?! Have they no shame?
Whatever. Here's a sample of the author's take on Ghandi:
Commerce without Morality
At one time, there was a free market which served the interests of the participants, not the State. This time is long past. The Obama administration is making sure that as much formerly private industry as possible serves the warped and twisted aims of government, and captains of industry have become nursing children as taxpayers take on the losses generated by the foul marriage of government and business. An innocuous regulation with seemingly good ends, The Community Reinvestment Act, was used as a sword by the government to equalize outcomes. The result has been a catastrophe, and the cure is more of the same.
Let's see, this peddles the myth that the CRA had something to do with the financial crisis and completely ignores that greed that fuelled the meltdown. The "lack of morality" here is government meddling with the compassionate geniuses who exploited an unregulated financial market, caused a crash and left millions suffering. Yeah, right.
I imagine that were Ghandi to return from the grave and read this, he'd abandon his pledge on non-violence.

Hat tip to Flopping Aces first hereand then here.
I’m on my way out the door so this has to be quick, please read both of FA’s blogs.
There was a vigorous debate about TBP’s response to the pirate hostage "crisis". Some RS contributors felt he did a good job, authorizing military force and getting the "crisis" resolved in six days. My position was "hogwash" it could have been over in a couple of days or less because the restrictive RoE’s kept the SEALs from acting earlier and it was only the courage shown by the on-scene commander who ordered the SEALs to shoot when they did - a questionable order given the RoE’s - that resolved the problem.
I always confuse "Flopping Aces" with "Ace of Spades," the instigators of the ludicrous Hummelgate charges. Maybe it's because Flopping Aces tends to produce commentary that's every bit as stoopid. It's amazing that anyone is still trying to spin the pirate standoff as some kind of grand failure of the Obama Administration, but there you have it.
What Senator Charles Schumer Has to Do with My Niece
In reading the National Review’s May 4th, 2009 issue, I ran across a disturbing quote from a very disturbing man, Senator Charles Schumer. He basically and boldly declared the end of "traditional values kinds of arguments." Here’s the quote in full:
"The world has changed. The old Reagan philosophy that served them well politically from 1980 to about 2004 and 2006 is over. But the hard Right, which still believes when the federal government moves chop off its hands, still believes, you know, traditional values kind of arguments and strong foreign policy, all that is over." (Bolding and italicizing is mine)
There’s a lot to criticize and dissect in that small Schumer quote, but the line that caught my attention was the declaration that tradition values are no longer relevant. Schumer, in effect, discards absolute values and triumphantly welcomes a mass acceptance of moral relativism. Forget about absolute rights and wrongs given by an absolute moral law giver (i.e. God). Instead we are all gods and we all get to determine our own set of rights and wrongs. Or put another way, we are all Adams and Eves perpetually feasting on forbidden fruit . . . I will know right from wrong because I will be as God.
What I find most ironic about the theocrats is that not only do they not understand their own government, they don't even understand their own religion. This guy reveals that he is Catholic. No doubt, he considers abortion rights to be a prime example of "moral relativism." How much you wanna bet that he supported the Iraq War (condemned as unjust by the Vatican) and the death penalty (also condemned under pro-life doctrine by the Vatican). Oh? Those are OK? Gee, no "moral relativism" there.
As for humans becoming God, it's called apokatastasis, and for several centuries, it was the a prevailing concept in Christian mysticism. It still is in the Eastern Church.
What an ignorant dick. I guess that's his problem though...
My niece knows full well that I teach catechism to 9th and 10th graders. She has asked me to send lessons to her.
Oh crap. Poor kid is going to have one of the world's great religions ruined — reduced to hating gays and opposing abortion.
Gore: ManBirdPig Flu Will Lead to SkyNet, Rule by Robot Overlords
This is presented as a speech by Al Gore:
That horrible Ursine Influenza will mutate and recombine with the Mexican, Avian, and Swine Influenzas to create a ManBearPig Flu. The panic will convince foolish capitalists to build SkyNet, an intelligent computer network very much like the Internet, which I invented back in the 70s, running the world’s most advanced computer model based on James Hanson’s disease vector computer models that prove the infinite acceleration of Influenza mutagens. And then SkyNet will rebel and send the robot warriors, called Terminators, to kill the scattered survivors of the ManBearPig Flu. Then SkyNet will build a time machine and send the terminators back in time to kill Sarah Conner, who was going to have an illegitimate child with me who would live to overthrow SkyNet and the Terminator Robots. Until then you have to make a hat out of Reynolds Wrap and wear it to keep SkyNet from reading your minds.
No! Back off. I’m talking here. You’ll be sorry when the ManBearPig Flu comes a calling!
Hey! You knocked off my tinfoil hat. [Smack. Pow. Battle.]
[The sound of Al Gore being dragged off stage]
Beware SkyyyyyyNettttttttt!
I think this is supposed to be funny.
